Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Awla (gooseberry) 1/2 kg
  2. Mustard oil 1 table spoon
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Asafoetida 1 pinch
  5. Red chilly powder, garam masala 1/2 tea spoon each
  6. Cumin seed, ajwain 1/4 tea spoon each
  7. Turmeric powder 1/4 tea spoon

Instructions

  1. Wash awlas and keep in water for 5 minutes.
  2. In a karahi, heat mustard oil to its smoking point. Switch off the gas and let it cool a little bit.
  3. Now add all masalas and awlas directly from water. Cover it and cook on very low heat. Periodically stir the awlas
  4. Cook till the awlas are tender and are leaving the sides of the karahi
  5. Lastly, stir all the awlas quickly so that all the awlas are cover with masala
  6. You can keep this in refrigerator for a week. Just heat it up while serving
