These shortbread eggless cookies are famous in India and Pakistan. An authentic beauty, these are easy to make also. Use of desi ghee is what makes them absolutely delicious and a pick above the rest.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. All purpose flour 1 1/4 th cups.
  2. Gram flour or besan 1/2 cup.
  3. Semolina 2 tbsp
  4. Powdered sugar 3/4 th cup.
  5. Ghee 1 cup
  6. Cardamom powder 1 tsp
  7. Almonds slivered 3 tbsp
  8. Pistachios slivered 3 tbsp


  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C. Make a dough using all the ingredients mentioned except the almonds and the pistachios.
  2. Sugar can be increased or decreased as per one's choice.
  3. Pinch small balls out of the dough. Smoothen each with your palms and make a + mark in the centre using a skewer.
  4. Line the baking tray with a parchment paper and arrange them leaving a little space between each.
  5. Bake these for about 15 to 18 minutes until light golden in colour. The enchanting aroma that fills up your house is also an indication that they are done.
  6. The aroma says it all. Let them cool down a bit before enjoying these lovely eggless authentic Indian cookies at tea-time with your loved ones.
