ABOUT Shalgam ka Sag RECIPE

This is a favourite punjabi dish of mine and I make it quite often at home.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1kg turnip
  2. 1 piece jagerry
  3. 2 onions
  4. 1 tbsp chopped ginger
  5. 1/4 th tsp cumin seeds
  6. 1/4 th tsp red chilli
  7. 2 green chilli
  8. Salt
  9. Green coriander
  10. 1 ladle of desi ghee.

Instructions

  1. peel, wash and dice the turnips.
  2. Put it in a cooker with jaggery and 1/2 cup of water.
  3. Cook until 4 whistles are attained. Once the pressure is settled, strain and blend them.
  4. Heat ghee in a pan
  5. Add cumin seeds
  6. Add onion and ginger
  7. Cook it
  8. Add green chilly, salt and red chilly powder.
  9. Add the boiled turnips [sag] and cook well.
  10. Add green coriander leaves.
