ABOUT Flattened Rice Pongal RECIPE

Pongal is one of the best break fast in Tamil nadu,here i tried pongal with flattened rice and moongdal.very delicious dish.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. moong dal - 100 gm
  2. flattened rice - 200 gm
  3. turmeric powder - 2 pinch
  4. salt - to taste
  5. for tadka:-
  6. ghee - 2 tbsp
  7. pepper & cumin crushed - each 1 tsp
  8. ginger finely chopped - 1 tsp
  9. hing powder -2 pinch
  10. broken dried redchilli - 2
  11. curry leaves - 2 arc
  12. broken cashew nuts - few

Instructions

  1. Rinse flattened rice in warm water and drain it.
  2. Soak and pressure cook moong dal with one and half cup water ,salt,turmeric powder for 2 whistles.
  3. Mix drained flattened rice to the cooked moongdal. Adjust salt and consistency by adding hot water.
  4. Heat ghee,add all the ingredients under tadka,fry till light golden colour.
  5. Add tadka to the flatenned rice,cooked moong dal mix.Mix well.
  6. Ready ! Serve warm with coconut chutney.
