Flattened Rice Pongal

Ingredients to make Flattened Rice Pongal

  • moong dal - 100 gm
  • flattened rice - 200 gm
  • turmeric powder - 2 pinch
  • salt - to taste
  • for tadka:-
  • ghee - 2 tbsp
  • pepper & cumin crushed - each 1 tsp
  • ginger finely chopped - 1 tsp
  • hing powder -2 pinch
  • broken dried redchilli - 2
  • curry leaves - 2 arc
  • broken cashew nuts - few

How to make Flattened Rice Pongal

  1. Rinse flattened rice in warm water and drain it.
  2. Soak and pressure cook moong dal with one and half cup water ,salt,turmeric powder for 2 whistles.
  3. Mix drained flattened rice to the cooked moongdal. Adjust salt and consistency by adding hot water.
  4. Heat ghee,add all the ingredients under tadka,fry till light golden colour.
  5. Add tadka to the flatenned rice,cooked moong dal mix.Mix well.
  6. Ready ! Serve warm with coconut chutney.

My Tip:

Mash the cooked moongdal and flattened rice well.
