Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Milk - 3 cups
  2. Bread - 4 slices
  3. Sugar - 4 tbsp
  4. Green Cardamom - 1 tsp
  5. Kesar(Saffron) - 3-4 strands
  6. Raisins - 15-20
  7. Almonds - 7-8 (chopped)
  8. Pista - 7-8 (chopped)
  9. Khoya - 50 gms (optional)
  10. Oil - for frying

Instructions

  1. Cut each bread slice into two halves diagonally or lengthwise.
  2. Heat oil in a kadai, deep fry the bread pieces on medium flame till golden brown. Keep aside.
  3. Boil milk for 10-12 minutes on medium heat till it becomes a little thick, keep stirring continuously. Add sugar, cardamom and saffron in the boiling milk, let it boil for another 5-7 minutes, stirring continuously.
  4. Dip each piece of fried bread in milk and keep in a plate. Don't put one on top of the other.
  5. Let the milk boil for another 10-15 minutes till it becomes thick like condensed milk. Add khoya, raisins, almonds, pista and mix well.
  6. Pour this milk preparation equally over the bread slices and let it get absorbed completely. Garnish with chopped nuts.
  7. Shahi Tukda is ready to be served- hot or cold.
