ABOUT Poppy Seeds/Khus Khus ka Saalan ( for seniors and expectant mothers) RECIPE

Khus Khus /Poppy seeds contain some niacin and folate, but poppy seeds are a better source of minerals. Just 1 teaspoon provides measurable amounts of calcium, iron and zinc. Excellent for seniors and expectant mothers as poppy seeds provides energy, besides helping to deal with insomnia, bone weaknesses and constipation.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 100 gms poppy seeds/Khus Khus
  2. water as needed
  3. 1 tbn oil
  4. 1 large onion chopped fine
  5. 1.5 tsn turmeric powder
  6. 1.5 tsn red chilli powder
  7. salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak poppy seeds in a cup of water for an hour before cooking
  2. Using the water used to soak them, blend into a paste
  3. Heat oil in a wok/pan and sauté the onions on medium heat until brown
  4. Add the poppy seed paste and mix
  5. Add salt to taste,turmeric and red chilli powders
  6. Mix the spices well and cook covered till the gravy thickens
  7. Serve hot or at room temperature with breads of your choice
