ABOUT Hara Bhara Kheema Patties... RECIPE

An easy peasy puff pastry patties done at home sweet home. The filling is that of non veg in this particular version. However filling can be entirely your choice. Hara bhara kheema is a lamb mince preparation with green leafy veggies in particular and hence i named them so. Apt for people of all ages and makes for an excellent snack at tea-time.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. Puff pastry sheets as desired
  2. Lamb mince 300 gm
  3. Onion sliced 1
  4. Cabbage shredded 1 cup
  5. Spring onion chopped 1 cup
  6. Green peas 3/4th cup
  7. Green chillies chopped or paste 1 tbsp
  8. OR
  9. Blackpepper 1 tbsp
  10. Lemon juice 1 tbsp
  11. Salt 1 tsp
  12. Garlic chopped finely 1 tbsp
  13. Coriander leaves chopped 1/4th cup
  14. Oil 2 tbsp
  15. Beaten egg 1
  16. Black seeds 2 tbsp (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a pan, heat oil and saute some garlic at first.
  2. Followed by sliced onion.
  3. Next, add the mince and saute it for 3 to 4 minutes on a low flame.
  4. Now add the chopped veggies.
  5. Stir fry them on a low to medium flame by stirring occasionally.
  6. Add the rest of the spices too.
  7. Do not cook much. It should be stir fried and take care that it should not be mushy.
  8. The veggies should retain the crunch.
  9. Sprinkle garam masala on top and garnish with chopped coriander.
  10. Squeeze some lemon juice too.
  11. Allow to cool down a bit and then fill a tablespoon of this mix in the centre of the pastry sheet squares and close it shaping like a triangle.
  12. Press the edges firmly and using a fork give it a nice design on them.
  13. Give them all an egg wash and sprinkle some black seeds on top.
  14. Bake in a preheated fan assisted oven on the last rack on 180° for about 25 minutes.
  15. Serve hot with garlic sauce or ketchup at tea-time.
