ABOUT Whole Wheat Jaggery Crumble (Sindhi Kutti) RECIPE

Whole Wheat Jaggery Crumble (Sindhi Kutti) is a very healthy and nutritious breakfast . It is beneficial to expectant mothers . This is so because alongwith the goodness of wholewheat and jaggery the cumin seeds regulate digestive system and relieves gastric problems. Cumin seeds, peppercorns are combined with wholewheat to form rotis . The cooked rotis are pounded coarsely and mixed with melted jaggery and ghee.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  2. Whole Wheat Flour 1 cup
  3. cumin seeds 1/2 tablespoon
  4. Black peppercorns 1/4 tablespoon coarsely crushed
  5. salt a little pinch
  6. ghee or oil for shortening
  7. water for kneading dough
  8. FOR MELTED jaggery
  9. jaggery shredded 150 grams
  10. ghee 3 tablespoons
  11. water 1/4 cup or little less


  1. Take a wide vessel and put the flour in it.
  2. Add the cumin seeds, peppercorns and pinch of salt
  3. Add oil/ghee shottening such that on mixing flour resembes crumbles.
  4. Combine all ingredients nicely.
  5. Add water little by little and bring the flour together to form firm dough.
  6. Roll out the dough into two thick rotis and roast on a girdle on medium heat. Do not use any ghee or oil at this stage.
  7. Now break and crumble the rotis by rubbing between both palms.
  8. Take ghee in a kadai. Place it on medium flame
  9. Add shredded jaggery and a little water.
  10. Once jaggery melts add the crumbled roti pieces
  11. Stir nicely and keep on slow flame for five minutes
  12. Serve hot with papad.
