ABOUT Saffron Cabbage Halwa RECIPE

This halwa is prepared fully with ghee and whole milk, it is a rich halwa but personally I think to mask the odor of cabbage both ghee and whole milk plays an important role here.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1/2 cup Cabbage
  2. 1/4 cup ghee
  3. 2 cups Whole milk
  4. 1/2 cup Sugar
  5. Few saffron strands
  6. 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
  7. Chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Take the ghee and shredded cabbage together in a vessel, saute on a medium flame until the raw smell of cabbage goes. Add the milk and cook on a high flame, stir continuously.
  2. Once the milk turns thick and becomes half of the quantity, add in the sugar, saffron, ghee and cook on a medium flame until the mixture turns thick. Finally add the cardamom powder and cook on simmer.
  3. Once the halwa is nicely cooked, put off the stove. Add the chopped nuts, give a stir and serve warm or even cold.
