ABOUT Fried Onions... RECIPE

A very basic recipe that comes handy at many a times when we require some quick alternatives. This is exactly one such basic recipe that i wanted to share with you all. These fried onions can be put to umpteen uses. Biryanis, Pulaos, Dum Ka Chicken, Chicken Korma, Mutton Korma, Chicken or Mutton Daleem, Murgh Musallam etc. It can be deep fried in advance and stored in the refrigerator to use later. And last but not the least, these are used in Hyderabad's famous urad daal dish called maash ki daal which is served mainly for breakfast with sliced fried onions alongside. Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Onions sliced thinly 5
  2. Oil 3 cups

Instructions

  1. Heat oil on a medium flame until the onions are sliced.
  2. Slice the onions as thinly as possible.
  3. Fry them in hot oil on a high flame at first.
  4. Keep an eye on them while doing so.
  5. Keep turning so that they are fried evenly.
  6. Deep fried onions are ready in about 15 minutes.
  7. Drain them on an absorbent paper and spread them.
  8. Transfer them to a plate and keep them in the freezer for about 5 minutes.
  9. After 5 minutes, crispy fried onion is ready to be used as required.
  10. Crush them a bit with your hands.
  11. You can fry them in larger amounts and keep them in an airtight container in the refrigerator and use them for over a month.
