ABOUT Hariyali Fish Tikka RECIPE

Hariyali Fish Tikka is a dish with obviously ‘fish’ as the main ingredient which is marinated in a mix of thick yogurt and green masala, put into skewers and baked or grilled in tandoor or oven.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 500gm boneless chicken
  2. 1cup chopped coriander leave
  3. ¾cup chopped mint leaves
  4. 4-5 green chilies
  5. 1 small onion cut into 4piece
  6. 5curry leaves
  7. 1tbsp ginger garlic paste
  8. 1tbsp kasoori methi
  9. 2tsp roasted jeera powder
  10. 1tsp amchoor powder
  11. 1tbsb yogurt
  12. ¼tsp garam mashala
  13. 2tbsp lemon juice
  14. 2-3 tbsp Ghee
  15. salt as per taste


  1. Clean and cut fish into cubes. Place it on a tissue to remove all excess water.
  2. Marinate fish in 1 tbsp ginger & garlic paste, 1/4 tsp turmeric, salt, 1 tsp black pepper powder and 2 tbsp lemon juice for approx 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. Make a hariyali paste by grinding 1 cup coriander leaves, 3/4 cup mint leaves, curry leaves and green chilies using few drops of water. The paste should be very dry and not watery. You can add a small onion to make the grinding easier.
  4. In a large bowl add marinated fish pieces, hariyali paste, 1 tbsp yogurt, 2 tsp cumin powder, 1/4 tsp garam masala powder, 1 tsp amchoor powder, 1 tbsp kasoori methi and a bit of salt. Mix well with the fish till well coated.
  5. Marinated fish for 30minutes.
  6. Preheat oven at 250 degrees C. Place the fish pieces on a baking tray and bake. After 15 minutes remove the baking tray, baste the fish by brushing ghee over each piece.
  7. Put the baking tray back to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes or till fish is cooked.
  8. Serve hot as a starter, or as a side dish.
