Dim Gola Rooti - plain and masala( Bengali egg pancake version)

Ingredients to make Dim Gola Rooti - plain and masala( Bengali egg pancake version)

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • salt to taste
  • 1 Tb sugar
  • 2 cups plain milk
  • 1 tomato CHOPPED
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 green chillies finely chopped
  • 1 Tb fennel seeds
  • 1 Tb oil for batter
  • 2-3 Tb oil for cooking

How to make Dim Gola Rooti - plain and masala( Bengali egg pancake version)

  1. For egg plain Gola Rooti:
  2. place all the dry ingredients in a bowl except onions,tomato, fennel seeds and green chillies
  3. Add the oil and start adding milk gradually to form a runny batter
  4. Add the egg and whisk well until combined with the batter
  5. Heat a Tb oil in a non stick pan and spread it using a brush/kitchen tissue over the pan
  6. pour in a laddle full of batter in the center and stead it to the size of a regular pancake and let cook on Low heat
  7. Flip and cook both sides till brown spots appear. Add a tsn of oil to the sides while cooking if needed
  8. Once done, take of heat and serve warm with a drizzle of honey/maple syrup
  9. For egg masala pancake:
  10. Repeat step one and add onions,tomatoes, fennel seeds and chillies
  11. Proceed with the repeating the same steps to create the masala Gola rootis as the plain version
  12. Serve masala Gola Rooti with ketchup or spicy chutney of your choice

My Tip:

Usage of chillies is according to your spicy tolerance levels. Gola Rooti can be made without egg too
