Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 3 cups Poha
  2. 1 Large Onion
  3. 1 Large Potato
  4. 3 Green Chillies
  5. 3" Ginger
  6. Salt to Taste
  7. 1 Tsp Turmeric Powder
  8. 5 to 7 Curry Leaves
  9. Coriander Leaves - fistful
  10. 2 Tbsp Oil
  11. 2 Tsp Mustard Seeds
  12. 2 Tsp Cumin Seeds
  13. 2 Tsp Black Gram
  14. 2 Tsp Bengal Gram
  15. 2 Red Chillies
  16. 2 to 3 Lemons Juice

Instructions

  1. Chop onions and potato.
  2. Chop green chilies and ginger. Squeeze the juice of 2 or 3 lemons.
  3. Heat oil in a pan adds mustard seeds, cumin seeds, black gram, bengal gram.
  4. When they start crackling add green chillies and ginger. Add chopped onions and potato. Saute it for a while.
  5. Add salt and Turmeric powder. Fry them till the onions and potatoes turn soft and cook. Meanwhile, soak atukulu/poha in water for 5 minutes. Drain and squeeze excess water.
  6. Add this to the above onion tadka. Mix well.
  7. Switch off the flame and add lemon juice.
  8. Serve hot atukula upma or poha with curd or any chutney.
