Fusion of Indo Chinese and South India’s recipe – Appo paniyaram or paniyaram manchurian is another option for breakfast or your evening snacks.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 cups – Dosa/idli Batter
  2. 1 cup – chopped bell peppers
  3. 1 large onion, sliced
  4. ¼ cup – chopped spring onions
  5. 1 tablespoon – grated ginger
  6. ½ teaspoon – soya sauce
  7. 1 tablespoon – tomato sauce
  8. ½ teaspoon- vinegar
  9. ¼ teaspoon – black pepper powder
  10. 3 tablespoon – oil
  11. salt to taste


  1. In a batter add salt to taste and mix well .You can also season the batter using curry leaves and mustard seeds.
  2. Pre heat the paniyaram mould and add 2-3 drops of oil in each mould.
  3. Pour the batter in each mould and cook on medium flame by covering the lid till the paniyaram turns golden.
  4. Now flip and cook the other side till it turns golden and crisp.
  5. Your paniyarams are ready; transfer it to the serving bowl.
  6. In a pan, heat some oil; add grated ginger, onions and bell peppers and sauté for a minute in medium flame.
  7. Now add soya sauce, tomato sauce, vinegar and salt. Mix well.
  8. Transfer the paniyaram to the pan and stir well. Add some fresh black pepper powder and mix well.
  9. Garnish with chopped spring onions.
  10. Yum yum appo manchurian is ready to serve.
