Ingredients to make Kappa Puzhungiyathu

  • Kappa Kizhangu / Tapioca 1 kg
  • salt to tatse
  • turmeric Powder
  • Baby onions 15
  • For Side dish / Dip
  • Red chillies 8
  • salt to taste
  • tamarind a gooseberry size
  • coconut oil 2 table spoons

How to make Kappa Puzhungiyathu

  1. Remove the skin and cut them in to big chunks.
  2. Boil surplus water in a vessel with salt and turmeric powder.
  3. Add the Tapioca chunks in to it.
  4. In 10 minutes the chunks will become soft. Take them out.
  5. In a mixer jar add the shallots, salt, red chillies, tamarind and grind coarsely without adding water.
  6. Add coconut oil and mix well.
  7. Serve the Boiled Kappa / Tapioca pieces with the hot spicy chutney and Chai.

My Tip:

Some Garlic can be added with the shallots to me it more spicy.
