Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Jeera 1 1/2 teaspoon
  2. Oil 2 tablespoons
  3. Hing 1/2 teaspoon
  4. 1 medium Onion, chopped
  5. 1 large potato, chopped
  6. Haldi, 1/2 teaspoon
  7. Namak, 2 teaspoon
  8. Mirch, 1 1/2 teaspoon
  9. Khatai, 2 teaspoon
  10. 1/2 Nimbu for garnishing
  11. Chopped dhaniya for garnishing
  12. Chopped onion for garnishing
  13. Sabudana, 2 bowls


  1. Get together all the ingredients.
  2. Take 2 tablespoons of oil. Add jeera and hing. Let them splinter.
  3. Add chopped onions and mix them well.
  4. Add the chopped potatoes. Mix them well too. They should be properly mixed with the oil.
  5. Cover the kadhai for 5 or so mins to let the potatoes soften. Stir twice in between so that they don't stick to the bottom.
  6. Once the potatoes soften, add haldi and mix completely.
  7. Now, start mixing the Sabudana little by little. Ensure all the Sabudana is coated with the mixture properly.
  8. Once mixed, add namak and mirch and mix.
  9. Once settled, add Khatai and sprinkle Nimbu juice. Mix well.
  10. Once done, turn-off the gas and garnish with Dhaniya and onion. Your Khitchdi is ready.
