Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Raw rice or Par boiled rice 2 cups
  2. Fresh grated coconut 1 cup
  3. Green chillies and red chillies 2 each
  4. Coconut Oil 3 table spoons
  5. Mustard seeds, Urad dal and chana dal for seasoning
  6. Asfoetida 1/2 teaspoon
  7. Curry leaves
  8. Jaggery 100 gms

Instructions

  1. In a blender powder the rice to coarse stuff and keep aside.
  2. Make jagerry in to small pieces and keep aside
  3. Heat a pan with oil and do the seasoning adding mustard, dals, asafoetida, curry leaves and the chillies.
  4. Once the dals become brown , pour 5 cups of water in to it and required salt.
  5. Once the water stars boiling well, add the coconut and rice powder and mix till the rice is cooked well.
  6. Allow the stuff to get warm enough to hold.
  7. Take lemon size balls and press a piece of jagerry inside and roll to elongated dumplings.
  8. Steam them out in idli plates for 15 minutes.
