ABOUT Kande Pohe RECIPE

Quick and easy this is what my Mother-in law made.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 400 grams poha/pressed rice   thick variety
  2. 3 onions (medium) chopped
  3. Salt to taste
  4. 1/2 tsp sugar
  5. 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  6. 5 tbsp oil
  7. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  8. a pinch  hing/asafoetida
  9. 1 spring curry leaves
  10.  4-5 green chillies chopped
  11. 1/2 tsp haldi powder
  12.  1 cup green peas boiled (optional)
  13. 1 tsp lemon juice
  14.  Fresh coriander leaves chopped

Instructions

  1. Add the poha in a colander. Hold it under running water, turn the colander, and wet all the poha.  Poha should be moist add salt and sugar, red chilli powder and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a kadhai/ wok. Add mustard seeds and when they splutter add green chillies, asafoetida and curry leaves. Add turmeric powder and mix.
  3. Add onions and sauté. Add peas sauté for two minutes.
  4. Add poha mix well. Cover and cook for 5 minutes on low flame.
  5. Add lemon juice and mix lightly.  Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
