ABOUT Malabar Sweet Lasagne/ Chatti pathiri RECIPE

With the goodness of coconut and plantain and hint of cardamom, you will instantly be reminded of God's own country! This dish is created by making multiple crepes with multi grain flour and layering them with a coconut mix and sweetened chopped plantain.

Ingredients Serving: 1

  1. For the filling 1
  2. Chopped kismis 1tbsp
  3. cashew 2tbsp
  4. 3 eggs
  5. 3tbsp sugar
  6. 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  7. Ripe Plantain chopped
  8. Ghee 3tbsp
  9. For filling 2
  10. Ghee 2tbsp
  11. 1 cup coconut
  12. 1/4 cup sugar
  13. 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  14. 2tbsp Seseme seeds
  15. For crepes
  16. 1cup milk
  17. 1 egg
  18. 1.5 cup Multi grain flour
  19. 1tsp vanilla essence
  20. 1 cup water
  21. 1tbsp sugar
  22. Pinch of salt
  23. For dipping
  24. 2 eggs
  25. 1tbsp sugar
  26. 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. For filling 1 Mix the eggs, sugar and cardamom powder.
  2. In pan heat ghee and roast the kismis and cashews and add the above egg mix and scramble it. Then add the chopped Plantain and stir few min and remove.
  3. For filling 2 In Pan heat ghee and fry the coconut till light brown. Add the sugar and cardamom and Seseme seeds and roast a couple more minutes till aromatic.
  4. For crepes Mix all the ingredients to get a lump free loose batter.
  5. Heat a pan and grease lightly. Pour a laddle of batter and prepare the thin crepes. Make approx 8 crepes of same size.
  6. For dipping mix Blend the eggs,sugar and milk thoroughly.
  7. Assembly - Grease a round pan the size of the crepes.
  8. Dip a crepe in the mix and lay at the bottom of the pan. -Sprinkle filling 1 and filling 2 on top and lay another soaked crepe on top
  9. In same way line all the crepes and filling. -Pour the remaining dipping mix on top and sprinkle with coconut mix.
  10. Bake it in preheated oven at 150 deg C for 15 to 20 min. Keep a watch so that top is just grilled to your satisfaction. If over browning, cover top with foil.
  11. Once baked completely, let it cool. Enjoy this sweet crepe Lasagne
