ABOUT GROUNDNUT CHUTNEY RECIPE

Here is a nice recipe of groundnut or peanut chutney to serve with breakfast items like idlis, dosas and uttapams.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Groundnuts........... 1 cup
  2. Onions.................... 2 large
  3. Cumin Seeds.......... 1 tsp
  4. Dry red chillies...... 4-5
  5. Curry leaves.......... 1 sprig
  6. Tomatoes............... 2 small
  7. Tamarind Paste.... 1 tsp to 1 1/2 tsp
  8. Salt to taste
  9. (For tempering:)
  10. Mustard seeds ....... 1 tsp.
  11. Dry red chillies....... 2 (broken)
  12. Curry leaves ......... 1 sprig
  13. Asafoetida (hing).... a pinch

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tbsp oil and deep fry roasted n peeled groundnuts until light brown. Drain and keep aside.
  2. In the same oil add the finely sliced onions and fry until light brown.
  3. Add salt, tomatoes and stir until tomatoes are tender.Remove from fire & keep to cool.
  4. Transfer into a mixie and add tamarind paste. Grind to a fine consistency using a little water.
  5. Heat oil and add the tempering ingredients. Mix into the chutney.
