ABOUT Idli vadacurry RECIPE

An ideal combination of steamed idli and vadacurry. It is light on your tummy and lifts your breakfast to a special one.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Vadacurry
  2. Channa dal 1 cup
  3. Medium sized Onion chopped 3
  4. Tomato 1
  5. Green chillies slit 2
  6. Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  7. Chilli powder 2 tsp
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Oil to saute
  10. To grind
  11. Coconut 4 tsp
  12. Tempering
  13. Fennel/ sombu 1 tsp
  14. Bay leaves 2
  15. Cinnamon 1/2 inch
  16. Garlic cloves crushed 6
  17. Ginger 1/2 inch crushed
  18. Curry leaves 1 sprig
  19. Garnish
  20. Coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. Soak the channa Dal for two hours. Grind it to a coarse paste with salt in a blender. Make them into small balls.,
  2. Steam the ground channa Dal in idli plates.
  3. Break the steamed roundels into powder.
  4. Heat a pan add oil , add the ingredients for tempering. Saute the. onions
  5. Add the tomato.
  6. Add salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder. Add water and allow to boil.
  7. Add the ground coconut paste. Allow to boil and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  8. Serve with hot idli, dosa, appam and idiyappam .
