ABOUT Multi Dal Rice Bottle Gourd Appe RECIPE

This are typical konkani snacks, and this is how my mother used to make them for me, so i am sharing her recipe with all of you.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2TBSP EACH OF Moong urad and chana dal
  2. 1/4 cup Tur dal
  3. 1/2 cup rice
  4. A pinch of asafoetida
  5. 1/4 cup sour curds
  6. 3/4th cup grated bottle gourd
  7. Oil, sesame seeds and mustard seeds
  8. 2 tbspGREEN CHILLIES AND GINGER paste
  9. 2tsp lime juice
  10. Salt
  11. Baking soda
  12. Oil

Instructions

  1. SOAK ALL DALS AND RICE TOGETHER for 5 to 6 hours. DRAIN the water and grind to idli batter consistency along with curds. FERMENT it overnight. MORNING add grated bottle gourd salt ,the chilly ginger paste ,lime juice and baķing soda
  2. Mix well and heat the iron Appe pan. EACH socket add a drop of oil. Add sesame and mustard seeds. ONCE THEY crackle pour a spoon of the batter in each socket Cook on one side first then scoop and cook the other side. Get a golden texture
