Ingredients to make Puran Poli

  • 2 cups maida
  • 1 cup oil
  • Half cup ghee
  • Pinch of salt
  • One spoon turmeric
  • 1 cup Chana dal
  • Half cup toor dal
  • 2 cups jaggery
  • 4-5 elaichi
  • I slice dried ginger

How to make Puran Poli

  1. Take the maida and add water and make it into a thick dough like a Chapathi dough mixing water little by little add 3-4 spoons oil and let this rest for 2-3 hours
  2. In a pressure cooker add the Chana dal and toor dal and let this cook for four whistles
  3. Now add the jaggery to the warm cooked dal and cook till this mixture is thick add elaichi and dried ginger
  4. Take a mixer and pulse this till the dal mixture can be rolled
  5. Roll the maida like chapathi and stuff the puran mixture and roll like a stuffed paratha
  6. Take a pan and add some ghee and cook the Poli till done

My Tip:

Serve hot white ghee and adding a little nutmeg makes it divine
