ABOUT Pazham Avichathu (Steamed Plantains) RECIPE

Nendram Pazham is the Plantain with unique flavour and taste native to Kerala ans variety of recipes are made here with this. When I visited My friends home for vacation in Trichur, Kerala she served this for brekafasf and I liked it very much. This is one of the traditional breakfast recipe of Kerala. I too started making this often nowadays. A healthy and filling one.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Nenndram Pazham /Ripened Plantains 3
  2. Fresh Coconut shredded 1 cup
  3. Sugar or Brown sugar as per your taste

Instructions

  1. Remove the stem of the Plantain and cut the fruit in to two Halves. Make a vertical slit.
  2. In a pan dry roast the coconut for 2 minutes or till the moisture dries. allow to cool down. Add some sugar or jagerry powder or brown sugar tot he coconut and mix well.
  3. Now fill the plantains with the coconut stuff into the slits.
  4. Steam them out in a steamer or idli plates for 10 to 15 minutes.
