ABOUT Potato Masala Sandwich RECIPE

Sandwich can be prepared with all types of spicy subjis. Subji can be used as sandwich spread, garnish with some fresh veggies and seasoned with some spices. This dish is quick and wholesome. This can also be topped with any processed Cheese or cream cheese.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For potato masala - For tempering – Oil – 1 tbsp.
  2. Cumin seeds – 1tsp
  3. Onion finely chopped – 1 medium
  4. Green chilies – 1 finely chopped (Medium hot)
  5. Garlic cloves – 3-4 – peeled and coarsely ground
  6. Ginger – 1 ½ tsp coarsely ground
  7. Asafoetida – ½ tsp
  8. Coriander powder – ½ tsp
  9. Garam masala – 1tsp
  10. Red chilli powder – 1 1/2 tsp
  11. Salt to taste
  12. For Bhaji - Boiled Potatoes– 2 medium
  13. Finely chopped coriander leaves – 2 tbsp.
  14. Lemon juice – 1 tsp
  15. For Sandwich - Brown Bread – 8 Slices
  16. Butter – 1-2 tbsp.
  17. Onion sliced – 1 medium
  18. Tomato sliced – 1-2 deseeded.
  19. Chat masala – 1 tsp
  20. Green chutney – 2-3 tbsp.
  21. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. For Bhaji - Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add Cumin seeds. Let it splutter.
  2. Add chopped green chillies. Stir it.
  3. Add finely chopped onion and salt. Cook till translucent.
  4. Add coarsely ground garlic cloves and ginger. Cook till raw aroma goes away.
  5. Add coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala and asafoetida. Stir for few seconds.
  6. Add boiled, roughly chopped potatoes. Mix well till mixture incorporates well with each other.
  7. Cover and cook on steam for 1 minute. Add 1/2 -1 tbsp. warm water if required.
  8. Add finely chopped coriander, lemon juice. Mix it and mash subji with masher. Keep aside.
  9. Sandwich - Spread some butter on brown bread slices evenly.
  10. Spread Potato masala mixture on one slice.
  11. Top it with tomato, onion slices.
  12. Sprinkle some chat masala and salt on onion tomato slices.
  13. Apply some green chutney on another buttered bread slice and arrange on masala bread.
  14. Grill them in Electric or any handheld sandwich maker.
  15. Cut and serve hot.
