ABOUT Ragda pattis RECIPE

This dish makes a complete breakfast and one that takes very little cooking.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. For the ragda filling
  2. 1 cup green pea
  3. 2 boiled potatoes
  4. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  5. 1/2tsp chilli powder
  6. 2 tsp ginger green chilli past
  7. 1/2tso garam masala
  8. 1 tsp tamarind soaked
  9. For the tempering
  10. 1/4tsp mustard seeds
  11. 6 curry patta
  12. A pinch oc asafoetida
  13. 2 tsp oil
  14. For the pattis
  15. 1 kg potato
  16. 2 tbs cornflour
  17. salt as par tast
  18. 1 /4cup chopped coriander
  19. 1tbs chat masala
  20. oil for shallow frying
  21. To serve
  22. 1 cup green chuntney
  23. 1/2chopoed coriander
  24. 1 cup shev
  25. 1 cup chopped onion
  26. 1 cup imli chutney


  1. For the ragda
  2. Boil green peas in 3 to4 cup of water and pressure cook for 4 whistel.
  3. Prepare the tempering by heating the oil adding mustard seeds curry patta and asafoetida and stirring till mustard seeds crackles
  4. Add in all the ingredients for the ragda adding more water if required.mix well mashing peas slightly so that the gravy becomes thickers.
  5. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. For pattis
  7. Boil peel and grate the potatoes.
  8. Add cornflour and salt and knead to a soft dough.
  9. Divide into equal portion and keep aside.
  10. Roll out each portion into circle.
  11. Bring edges together in the center to seal filling inside the potatos.
  12. Press slightly on the top to make patty.
  13. Shallow fry on non stick pan till the pattis are golden brown and crisp
  14. How to serve
  15. For serving place 2 pattis on plate and pour the ragda over.
  16. Top with chuntny. Sprinkle the sev and onion on top.
  17. Serve immediately.
