Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. onion 1/2
  2. tomato 2
  3. coriander leaves as required
  4. asafoetida 1/2 tsp
  5. tamarind small gooseberry size ball
  6. onion 2 tsp
  7. Green chilli or red chilli 1
  8. pepper jeera powder 2 tsp
  9. turmeric powder 1 tsp
  10. Toordal 1cup
  11. salt as required
  12. Curry leaves as required
  13. garlic 5


  1. Soak toordal for 5 min and cook for 3 whistles.and keep aside
  2. Soak Tamarind for 10 min.and strain it and set aside
  3. In bowl take tomato and tamarind water.make puree by using hand (don't use mixie)it enhance the rasam taste.add salt,coriander leaves in it.
  4. now add 1/2 cup of toordal in tamarind tomato water.mix well.keep aside
  5. In pan heat oil,add mustard seeds,crushed garlic,Curry leaves,onion fry add Turmeric powder,green chilli,pepper jeera powder,asafoetida fry for 2 min
  6. Now add tamarind puree bowl in it.mix well.add coriander leaves.
  7. Don't boil rasam.cook for 5 min and off the flame.
