ABOUT Mint and Pomegranate Raita RECIPE

Instead of paying the Valentine's Day markup at a restaurant, indulge in a special meal on your own turf. There are several ways to show you care, and preparing a special meal is one of them. This pleasant fruity raita is a delicious combination of mint, coriander and pomegranate pearls with the cool, refreshing quality of yogurt. This pretty raita is the perfect antidote to hot and fiery curries.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Thick yogurt 2 cups
  2. Pomegranate pearls 1 cup (reserve few for garnish)
  3. Mint leaves, chopped 4 tbsp
  4. Coriander leaves, chopped 4 tbsp
  5. Green chilies, finely chopped 2
  6. Cumin powder 1 tsp
  7. Chaat masala 1 tsp
  8. Freshly ground black pepper 1/4 tsp
  9. Sugar as required
  10. A pinch of black salt or rock salt
  11. A few coriander or mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Whisk the yogurt briefly in a bowl. Set this aside.
  2. Season with the spice powders, salt and and sugar. Whisk it all together until sugar is dissolved. Taste and adjust the seasoning according to your requirement.
  3. Then, add the chopped mint and coriander leaves and mix well.
  4. Add the pomegranate pearls and stir well.
  5. If not serving immediately, keep the raita in the refrigerator, to cool.
  6. When ready to serve the raita, add the reserved pomegranate pearls and garnish with mint/coriander leaves.
  7. Enjoy!
