Tangy Tomato Rice

Ingredients to make Tangy Tomato Rice

  • rice 2 cups (washed and drained)
  • tomato 5 finely chopped
  • garlic paste 2 tspoon
  • green chillies 4 finely chopped
  • curry leaves 10
  • mustard seeds 1 tspoon
  • asafoetida 1 pinch
  • Yellow spilit peas 2 tbspoon
  • Spilit black gram 1 tspoon
  • turmeric 1/2 tspoon
  • Sambar powder 1 tspoon
  • oil 2 tspoon
  • salt according to taste
  • water 3 Cups

How to make Tangy Tomato Rice

  1. Heat pressure cooker with oil.
  2. Add mustard seeds curry leaves green chilles and asafoetida.
  3. Then add yellow spilit peas and spilit blackgram fry them until golden.
  4. Saute the garlic paste now just for few seconds.
  5. Add in the tomato turmeric and salt.
  6. Saute for 2 to 3 minutes.
  7. Add sambar powder.
  8. Cook covered until soft.
  9. And cook them until they are soft.
  10. Add rice and saute for 5 minutes.
  11. Pour water 3 cups
  12. Stir and cover the cooker with lid.
  13. Cook on a medium heat.
  14. Allow to whistle once.
  15. When the pressure goes down open the lid.
  16. Fluff up the rice.
  17. Serve tangy tomato rice with curd .
