Jaggery Rice

A healthy sweet which has its roots in Pakistan and a dish which has immense health benefits. Jaggery is one of the main ingredients in the dish which not only adds flavour but also cleanses your digestive system, purifies your blood and is loaded with minerals.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 250 grams par boiled rice
  2. 300 grams jaggery
  3. 1 tablespoon ghee
  4. 5 cloves
  5. 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  6. 1 teaspoon cumin
  7. 2 teaspoon fennel
  8. 1/2 cup grated coconut
  9. 1 glass water
  10. Roasted dry fruits


  1. Soak rice for half an hour and then boil the rice till quarter done, drain the water and keep the rice aside. DO NOT ADD SALT TO RICE.
  2. Heat a hollow heavy bottomed pan on the burner and add ghee.
  3. Add cumin, fennel, cloves and jaggery. Stir till the jaggery melts.
  4. Add water and give it a boil.
  5. Add rice and mix on low heat till all the water has dried.
  6. Add grated coconut and cardamom powder.
  7. Garnish with roasted dry fruits and serve.
