Ingredients to make Dal fry

  • Tuvr dal 1/2 cup
  • Big Onion sliced 2
  • Small Tomatoes chopped 2
  • Garlic 10 cloves
  • Ginger 1 inch
  • Green chillies 2
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • hing pinch
  • Garam masala 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander leaves
  • Kasuri Methi
  • Salt
  • oil
  • For tempering
  • ghee
  • Jeera
  • Red chilli 1
  • curry leaves

How to make Dal fry

  1. PRESSURE COOK 1/2 CUP TUVR DAL WITH PINCH OF TURMERIC FOR 5 WHISTLES
  2. IN A KADAI, ADD 1 TBSP OIL. ADD 2 SLICED ONION
  3. SAUTE ONION TILL IT TURNS TRANSLUCENT
  4. SAUTE 10 GARLIC PODS, 2 SLIT GREEN CHILLIES AND CHOPPED GINGER
  5. WHEN RAW SMELL OF GARLIC GINGER DISAPPEAR, ADD 2 CHOPPED TOMATOES
  6. ADD 1/2 TSP TURMERIC, 1 TSP RED CHILLI AND 1 TSP GARAM MASALA POWDER
  7. ADD PINCH OF HING. MIX
  8. ADD REQUIRED SALT AS PER TASTE. WAIT TILL TOMATOES ARE COOKED PROPERLY. IF REQUIRED ADD LITTLE WATER
  9. ADD COOKED DAL. MIX
  10. ADD CHOPPED CORIANDER LEAVES AND KASURI METHI. COOK FOR 5 MINUTES
  11. PREPARE TADKA WITH GHEE, JEERA, RED CHILLIES AND CURRY LEAVES. ADD TO DAL AND TURN OFF FLAME
  12. SERVE WITH RICE OR ROTI
