ABOUT Tamilnadu Spicy Pappu vada RECIPE

Masala vada made from chana dal and spices, is a popular street food of South Indian cuisine. It is also known as Paruppu Vadai in Tamilnad.it is very esy and takes very less time to prepare.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. For grinding
  2. 1 cup chenna dal
  3. 2 dried red chilli
  4. 1 tsp rock salt
  5. 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
  6. Other Ingredients
  7. 2 onions, finely choppes
  8. 10 stalks coriander leavesfinely chopped
  9. 2 sprigs curry leaves,finely chopped
  10. 1 green chilli, finely chopped
  11. 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  12. 500 ml Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Soak the chana dal for 2 hours. Drain the dal after 2 hours.
  2. Grind the dal with the red chillies, asafoetida and salt. Use about 2-3 tablespoon of water while grinding.
  3. .Grind the batter to a coarse paste.To the ground batter, add in lots of finely chopped (onions, curry leaves, coriander leaves, green chillies)and cumin seeds.Mix well and check for seasoning.
  4. Take a small lime size batter in hand and make a ball. Gently flatten it on the hands. Gather the edges to smoothen.
  5. Gently lower the vada in hot oil and cook the vadai on both sides until golden brown in low flame.
  6. Drain on paper towel.Serve hot with Coconut or Red Tomato chutney
