Milk boiled with Palm sugar, pepper powder and turmeric is given to the whole family during the winter season, especially when we get affected by soar throat and cough. It gives very soothing effect to throat and helps for a peaceful sleep.This very same healthy drink is nowadays served in feasts and restaurants too.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Fresh Milk 500 ml
  2. Palm sugar 100 gms
  3. Cardamom powder 1/4 tea spoon
  4. Fine pepper Powder 1/2 tea spoon
  5. turmeric Powder a pinch
  6. Few saffron strings
  7. Finely chopped almonds few (Optional)
  8. honey 1 table spoon


  1. Boil Milk in a vessel in medium flame.
  2. While boiling add the pepper powder, Cardamom powder and turmeric powder.
  3. Crush the Palm sugar in a hand mortar and add to the boiling milk.
  4. Soak Saffron in 2 table spoons of warm milk.
  5. Allow milk to boil at least for 15 minutes with these stuff.
  6. Filter the boiled milk in a strainer, add the nuts, honey and saffron mix well and serve hot.
