ABOUT Bajra Akki Roti RECIPE

Akki roti is very popular breakfast in Karnataka. In kannada, akki roti means rice pancake. Here instead of rice flour i have used bajra flour.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Bajra Flour - 1 Cup
  2. Grated Coconut - 1 tbsp
  3. Grated Carrot - 2 tbsp
  4. Jeera / Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
  5. Onion - 1 small sized (Finely chopped)
  6. Green chilli - 1 (Finely Chopped )
  7. Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp (Finely chopped)
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Oil to roast
  10. To temper:
  11. Oil - 1 tsp
  12. Mustard Seeds -1/2 tsp
  13. Channa dal - 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl add all ingredients, also add the temper ingredients given under 'To temper'.
  2. Pour in water little by little and mix it nicely to form a smooth dough. Then make equal size balls from this dough.
  3. Take an aluminium foil, grease it with oil, take a ball pat it evenly with your hands to a medium thin roti.
  4. Heat the tawa, put the sheet on the tawa (that means roti side facing the tawa). Cook the roti along with the foil for a few mins, then slowly remove the foil.
  5. Pour some oil all over the roti. Cook till it becomes slightly brown colour, flip into the other side and continue cooking it for a few mins .
  6. Serve with butter or coconut thuvaiyal or chutney.
