ABOUT Masala Puri RECIPE

Masala Puri is a very popular and mouth watering chatpata Bangalore style snack/chat recipe loved by people of all age groups. It’s sweet, spicy, tangy, crispy – all in one single plate.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Dried green peas- 1 cup
  2. Mint Chutney as per taste
  3. Few Puris
  4. Finely chopped onion, tomatoes, coriander leaves and any sev of your choice to garnish
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Red chilli powder - 2 tsp
  7. Chat Masala - 1 tsp
  8. Mint leaves - 2
  9. Coriander leaves - 2 strands
  10. Vegetable oil - 2 tbsp
  11. Cloves - 2
  12. Cinnamon stick - 1/2 inch
  13. Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
  14. Garlic cloves - 3
  15. Green chilies - 1 (optional)
  16. Big Sized Onion chopped - 1
  17. Carrot - 1
  18. Potatoes - 2
  19. Dates Chutney as per taste

Instructions

  1. Soak the green peas overnight. Peel the skin of the carrot and potatoes and cut them into cubes. Cook the soaked green peas, carrot and potatoes in a pressure cooker or pan adding water till they become soft.
  2. Heat oil in pan. Add the cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon and saute for a few seconds. Now add the chopped onions, green chili and garlic cloves and saute till it becomes light brown in color.
  3. Add the boiled and sauteed ingredients along with mint leaves and coriander leaves in a blender and blend it to a smooth paste. Transfer this to a pan. Add little water if required, red chilli powder and chat masala and bring it to a boil.
  4. On a serving plate, crush the puris as desired. Add the prepared masala gravy. (You can also sprinkle some chat masala if desired.) Now add the dates chutney and mint chutney on top of the gravy as per your taste.
  5. Nicely garnish it with chopped onion, tomatoes, coriander leaves and any sev of your choice. The Masala Puri is now ready.
  6. Serve it fresh and hot to enjoy.
