Mackerel Fish Molee

Ingredients to make Mackerel Fish Molee

  • mackerel fish pieces - half kg
  • For marination 1 tsp chilli powder,1/4 tsp turmeric powder & salt.
  • onion -1
  • tomato -1
  • Green chilli -2
  • ginger - one inch piece
  • garlic - 5 cloves
  • coconut milk -1/2 cup +1 tsp corn flour
  • tamarind water -from gooseberry size
  • (Or lemon juice - half)
  • salt - to taste
  • Oil to fry - 4 tbsp ( coconut oil)
  • Few curry leaves and coriander leaves.

How to make Mackerel Fish Molee

  1. MARINATE FISH WITH SALT,TURMERIC AND CHILLI POWDER.HEAT OIL IN A SHALLOW PAN.
  2. FRY THE FISH PIECES IN A MEDIUM FLAME.
  3. TURN THE FISH PIECES AND FRY.
  4. SEMI FRY AND TRANSFER IT.
  5. CHOP ONE ONION,ONE TOMATO,5 GARLIC CLOVES AND A SMALL PIECE OF GINGER.
  6. COARSELY BLEND OR FINELY CHOP AND USE.
  7. HEAT OIL IN A SEPARATE PAN OR IN THE FISH FRIED OIL ADD THE COARSELY BLENDED PASTE.
  8. SAUTÉ WELL,THEN ADD TURMERIC AND CHILLI POWDER.
  9. SOAK A GOOSEBERRY SIZE TAMARIND IN HALF CUP WATER.
  10. AFTER SAUTEED FOR 5 -7 MINUTES ADD GREEN CHILLIES AND SALT.
  11. ADD TAMARIND WATER.MIX WELL.
  12. ADDING 1 TSP FISH MASALA IS OPTIONAL
  13. LET THE MASALA COOK WELL.
  14. ADD THE SEMI FRIED FISH PIECES.
  15. TURN THE FISH PIECES.
  16. MIX 1 TSP CORN FLOUR WITH HALF CUP COCONUT MILK.
  17. POUR IT TO THE FISH MASALA.
  18. LET IT BOIL FOR 3 -5 MINUTES.
  19. ADD CHOPPED CORIANDER LEAVES AND CURRY LEAVES.
  20. FISH MOILEE IS READY.
  21. TRANSFER TO A BOWL.GARNISH WITH CHOPPED CORIANDER LEAVES AND CURRY LEAVES.
