Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup toor dal (arhar)
  2. 1 tomato chopped
  3. 2 to 3 green chillies
  4. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  5. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  6. 1 tsp coriander powder
  7. 1 tsp sabji masala powder
  8. Salt to taste
  9. For dhokli
  10. 1/2 cup atta
  11. 2 tbsp besan
  12. 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder and red chilli powder
  13. Salt to taste
  14. 1/2 tsp sesame seeds
  15. 1/2 tsp ajwain
  16. For tadka
  17. 1 tsp mustard seeds and cumin seeds
  18. 2 dried red chilli
  19. 1 spring curry leaves

Instructions

  1. Cook the dal with the ingredients listed under Dal. Keep aside.
  2. Knead dough of the Dhokli ingredients. Keep aside.
  3. Open the cooker and add 1 1/2 cup water into the cooked dal. Let simmer.
  4. Roll out chapati out of the dhokli dough. Cut lengthwise and then diagonally into squares.
  5. Boil water in a pan. Add the dhoklis into boiled water and cook for 15 min. Drain water.
  6. Now put the cooked dhoklis into the simmering dal. Cook together for 5 min.
  7. Take out in a serving dish. Prepare the tadka. Heat oil. Add hing, cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Add dried red chilli and curry leaves.
  8. Pour over the dal dhokli. Serve hot.
