Ingredients to make Pesara kattu

  • Pesara Pappu/Moong Dal/green gram – 1 Cup
  • Red Chillies – 3 or 4
  • cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • curry leaves – 4 or 5
  • onions - chopped
  • garlic - 4
  • oil – 1 tsp
  • turmeric – A Large Pinch
  • salt to Taste

How to make Pesara kattu

  1. Add 2 cups of water to the moong dal and let the dal soak for about 30 minutes.
  2. Pressure cook the dal for till it is mashed.
  3. In a vessel, heat the oil.
  4. Add the garlic and wait till they splutter.
  5. Add the cumin seeds and fry for about a minute.
  6. Add the onions, slit red chillies, and curry leaves.
  7. Fry for a minute. Add salt, turmeric, and dal.
  8. Mix well.Serve hot with rice or roti.
