ABOUT Semiya payasam RECIPE

It is a sweet recipe which can be ,ade for festive and dinner party occasions.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Milk - 1 litre
  2. semiya/seviyan - 50 gms or 1 cup
  3. Ghee - 3 tsp
  4. kaju/cashewnuts - 2 tbsp
  5. kishmish/raisins - 2 tbsp
  6. Sugar - 1 cup
  7. Elaichi powder - 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Take a vessel, add milk into it and bring it to a boil.
  2. Reduce the flame and keep the milk boiling for few minutes.
  3. Switch off the flame and place it aside for later use.
  4. Take a wok/sauce pan, into it add 2 tsp ghee and heat it on low flame.
  5. Add dry fruits such as kaju and raisins and saute them for few seconds on low flame.
  6. Take them out on a plate.
  7. Into the same wok/sauce pan, add 1 tsp ghee.
  8. Add vermicelli and roast them for few minutes on low flame until a slight brown color is observed and keep stirring while roasting.
  9. Add the boiled milk carefully.Mix the milk and semiya well.
  10. Cook until a boil appears.
  11. Add sugar as per requirement and mix well.Cook for a minute.
  12. Add elaichi powder, fried dry fruits and mix well.
  13. Cook until a thick consistency is observed.
  14. Switch off the flame,Serve in bowls.
  15. Enjoy the dessert in hot or cold form.
