BROWN CHHOLIYA RICE

Ingredients to make BROWN CHHOLIYA RICE

  • Brown rice 1 cup
  • Green choliya 250 GMs
  • carrot -1 sliced
  • mushrooms-1 packet (Sliced)
  • onion-1 sliced
  • Dry masala-(1 star anise , 1/2 tsp mustard seeds,1 tsp zeera,2-3 cloves, 1 Moti Elachi)
  • mustard oil 2 tablespoon
  • salt to taste
  • red pepper powder-1 tsp
  • Garamond masala- 1 tsp
  • pickle masala 1 tsp

How to make BROWN CHHOLIYA RICE

  1. First wash the rice and keep it on boil for 5 minutes on high flame as brown rice takes time
  2. Wash Chholiya
  3. Slice the mushrooms
  4. slice the carrots and onions
  5. Drain the brown rice and keep it aside
  6. Take a wok and put mustard oil and all the Dry masala one by one
  7. Add Green Chholiya,mushrooms, carrots and onions
  8. Sauté the vegetables for 5-7 minutes and add red chilli powder
  9. Now add rice and salt , Mix it well
  10. Add three cups of water . usually we take 2 cups for white rice but for brown rice we will take one extra cup water
  11. Cover it with lid
  12. Check after 20 minutes. Brown Chholiya rice will be ready to serve . pour 1 tsp Pickle masala before serving.
  13. Serve Hot

My Tip:

We can soak the brown rice for 4-6 hours if we are not boiling it. We can add more vegetables of our choice.
