ABOUT Homemade Baked Potato Chips with Caramelized French Onion Dip RECIPE

Spicy, crunchy and tasty chips served with a creamy onion dip! There's no need to set up a deep fryer to make great potato chips - the oven is just fine. Part of the charm of homemade chips is that they're a little thicker and have more of a bite than chips from a bag. A healthier option to traditional fried potato chips.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For the Chips:
  2. 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  3. 1 tbsp olive oil
  4. 1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce
  5. 1/2 cup sour cream / yogurt
  6. 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  7. 1 clove garlic, minced
  8. 1 cup finely chopped onion
  10. 2 tbsp olive oil
  11. Red chili powder
  12. Freshly ground black pepper
  13. 3 medium potatoes, peeled
  14. 1/4 tsp black pepper

  1. Make Chips:
  2. Preheat oven to 230 Degree Celsius.
  3. Line baking sheet with butter paper.
  4. Slice the potatoes into 1/8-inch slices on a mandoline or other handheld slicer.
  5. In a pot of boiling water cook the potato slices for 3-5 minutes.
  6. Drain well and combine with oil, salt, chili powder and pepper in a large bowl.
  7. Place potato slices on prepared baking sheet in one layer.
  8. Bake for about 15 minutes until crisp and golden brown.
  9. Season again lightly with salt, chili powder and pepper when they come out of the oven.

  14. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
  15. In a bowl combine cooled onion, mayonnaise, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.
  16. Chill 30 minutes.
  17. Serve with chips.
