Amritsari Dal makhni

Ingredients to make Amritsari Dal makhni

  • For dal: Sabut urad dal 1 cup soaked for 5 hours
  • Rajmah 1/2 cup soaked 5 hours
  • ginger chopped 2 tablespoon
  • garlic 2 tablespoon
  • green chillies 3 chopped
  • salt 2 tablespoon
  • turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  • mustard oil 2 tablespoon
  • cloves 4
  • water 5 Cups
  • For Tempering:
  • Ghee2 tablespoon
  • butter 3 tablespoon
  • onion chopped 1 large
  • ginger Garlic Paste 3 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder 2 teaspoon
  • Asfetoida 1 teaspoon
  • tomatoes 2 large chopped
  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon
  • coriander leaves 2 tablespoon chopped
  • cream 4 tablespoon
  • Milk 1/2 cup
  • ginger julliens 2 tablespoon

How to make Amritsari Dal makhni

  1. Wash the soaked dal and rajmah. Put it into a pressure cooker.
  2. Add water, mustard oil and other ingredients for dal.cook till 6 whistles.
  3. After this open the lid and mash the dal with the help of ladle.
  4. Add milk and let it boil on low flame. Add ghee and butter in another pan and add asfetoida, chopped onion , and ginger garlic paste.cook till it becomes golden brown and add tomato. Stir constantly and cook till oil seprates and add red chilli powder. Pour this tempering on dal.
  5. Cook dal on low flame and stir constantly for 10 mintues. Add ginger slices and coriander leaves and garam masala. Cook for 2 mintues. Add cream and serve hot.
  6. Your amritsari dal makhni is ready. Serve it with rice or tandoori roti.
