ABOUT Gujarati khichu(microwave version) RECIPE

This is one of the top favourites in my list of comfort foods as its very easy to digest and quick to make also.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Rice Flour-1 cup
  2. Cumin Seeds-1 tsp
  3. Ginger -1/2 inch
  4. Green Chilli-1
  5. Soda-1 pinch
  6. Water-3 cups
  7. Salt
  8. To serve:
  9. Groundnut oil-1 tbsp
  10. Methiya sambhar(pickle masala)

Instructions

  1. Take a microwave safe bowl and add water,salt,cumin seeds,ginger chilli paste.Microwave for 1 minute.
  2. Then add soda and rice flour.Mix well such that no lumps remain.
  3. Microwave covered for 2 minutes.
  4. Mix well again and microwave covered for 3 minutes.The khichu turns yellow when done.
  5. Now to serve take in individual bowls and add a spoon of groundnut oil and sprinkle methiya sambhar(pickle masala) and enjoy.
  6. There is one more way you can temper it and eat.Take a spoon of groundnut oil and heat in a small pan.Add chopped garluc to it.When garlic browns switch off gas and add 1 tsp red chilli powder and pour on khichu.Enjoy.
