Gujarati khichu(microwave version)

Ingredients to make Gujarati khichu(microwave version)

  • Rice flour-1 cup
  • cumin Seeds-1 tsp
  • ginger -1/2 inch
  • Green chilli-1
  • Soda-1 pinch
  • water-3 cups
  • salt
  • To serve:
  • Groundnut oil-1 tbsp
  • Methiya sambhar(pickle masala)

How to make Gujarati khichu(microwave version)

  1. Take a microwave safe bowl and add water,salt,cumin seeds,ginger chilli paste.Microwave for 1 minute.
  2. Then add soda and rice flour.Mix well such that no lumps remain.
  3. Microwave covered for 2 minutes.
  4. Mix well again and microwave covered for 3 minutes.The khichu turns yellow when done.
  5. Now to serve take in individual bowls and add a spoon of groundnut oil and sprinkle methiya sambhar(pickle masala) and enjoy.
  6. There is one more way you can temper it and eat.Take a spoon of groundnut oil and heat in a small pan.Add chopped garluc to it.When garlic browns switch off gas and add 1 tsp red chilli powder and pour on khichu.Enjoy.

My Tip:

This khichu tastes best when eaten hot.
