Mutton ghee rice.

Ingredients to make Mutton ghee rice.

  • Mutton – 1/2 kg
  • rice – 1 cup
  • coconut milk-1 cup
  • turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • ginger garlic paste – 1/2 tsp
  • curd-2 tblspn
  • chilli powder-2 spoon
  • pepper powder-1 spoon
  • coriander powder-3 spoon
  • cinnamon – 1″ stick
  • cardamom – 2
  • cloves – 2
  • bay leaf – 1
  • ghee – 3 tbsp
  • salt to taste

How to make Mutton ghee rice.

  1. First marinate mutton with salt, curd, all types of powders, ginger garlic paste for 30 mins.
  2. Then pressure cook it for 3 whistles and seperate mutton pieces and mutton broth.
  3. Meanwhile, wash 1 cup rice thoroughly with water and soak it for 20-30 mins.
  4. In a pressure cooker, add 3 tbsp ghee/clarified butter and allow it to heat.
  5. Add bay leaf, cinnamon stick, cloves, green cardamom.
  6. Add mutton pieces and saute for few minutes. The flame should be medium.
  7. Add soaked rice and saute for few minutes. Now add 1 cup coconut milk to 1.5 cups of mutton broth and bring this to boil.
  8. Check for salt Cover the cooker with the lid and switch the flame to low Cook for 10-12 minutes.
  9. Turn off the gas stove and allow it to cool for the next 20-25 minutes
  10. Open the lid and add one to two tsp of ghee and mix everything thoroughly. Serve hot

My Tip:

You can also add onions and green chillies if you wish to.
