ABOUT dahi vada RECIPE

dahi vadas are my favourite side dish since childhood. I used to love them so much that mom used to make them frequently for me, this is my moms recipe. My love for them still remains the same.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1/2 cup washed moong dal
  2. 1/2 cup washed urad dal
  3. pinch baking soda
  4. 2 tbsp raisins
  5. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  6. 500 gm curd
  7. 1 tbsp powdered sugar
  8. 1 tbsp black salt
  9. 1 tbsp roasted cumin powder
  10. 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  11. 2-3 tbsp imli chutney
  12. coriander leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak both the dals for at least 2 hrs.
  2. In a blender, add the two dals and blend them together well.
  3. Take out in a bowl, add salt , cumin seeds , baking soda and raisins and mix.
  4. Heat up oil in a wok and drops small balls of the batter.
  5. Fry them on medium flame till brown, drain on absorbent paper.
  6. Take some warm water and soak the vadas for 10-15 mins.
  7. Meanwhile, add sugar in curd and whisk it well.
  8. Squeeze the vadas of water and put them in the curd.
  9. Put black salt, cumin powder, red chilli powder and imli chutney on the vadas.
  10. Garnish with coriander and serve.
