Ingredients to make Ukaalo.( Soothing seasoned milk for your Irritating throat)

  • Milk 2 mugs ( 450 to 500 ml)
  • water 3/4 cup.
  • mint leaves 10 no.
  • ginger grated 1 tbsp
  • tulsi leaves 6 to 8 no.
  • Fresh green tea chopped 1 tbsp ( optional)
  • dry ginger powder 1/2 tsp
  • nutmeg powder 1/2 tsp
  • Dry masala for grinding.
  • Cardemom 2
  • cinnamon 1 stick.( Size of half little finger)
  • pepper corn. 4 to 6
  • cloves 4.
  • jaggery 2 tsp grated or chopped small.

How to make Ukaalo.( Soothing seasoned milk for your Irritating throat)

  1. Dry roast Cinnamon, Cardemom, pepper corn, Cloves .
  2. Cool and grind. You can grind this in more amount to store in advance.
  3. Heat water. Add ginger, mint leaves, Tulsi and fresh green tea if using.
  4. Add dry ginger powder and nutmeg powder.
  5. As it starts boiling add grounded dry masala.
  6. As milk boils and reduces to 1/4 cup add milk.
  7. Boil for 3 minutes. Now turn off heat add add Jaggery to taste.
  8. Pour in mugs of size of your choice and enjoy this hot seasoned milk everyday especially in Winters.
  9. You can adjust jaggery according to your taste.

My Tip:

You can add 1 /4 cup of turmeric to the milk just before removing from heat.
