Ingredients to make Karachi halwa

  • cornflour 1 cup
  • water 1 cup
  • For sugar syrup:
  • sugar 1 cup
  • water 3/4cup
  • lemon juice 1/2 tsp
  • Red colour few drops
  • Other ingredients for halwa:
  • cashews 2 tbsp
  • cardamom powder 1/2 tsp
  • pista 1 tbsp

How to make Karachi halwa

  1. TAKE 1 CUP CORNFLOUR IN A BOWL.
  2. ADD 1 CUP WATER GRADUALLY TO MAKE A LUMPFREE PASTE.
  3. TAKE 1 CUP SUGAR IN A PAN.
  4. ADD 3/4 CUP WATER TO SUGAR AND MIX.
  5. LET THE SUGAR DISSOLVE COMPLETELY.
  6. ADD 1/2 TSP LEMON JUICE AND FEW DROPS OF RED COLOUR.
  7. WHISK THE CORNFLOUR PASTE AGAIN AND ADD SLOWLY TO SUGAR SYRUP, SIMULTANEOUSLY MIXING THEM.
  8. KEEP THE FLAME LOW AND KEEP STIRING CONTINUOUSLY TO PREVENT LUMPS.
  9. WHEN THE MIXTURE BECOMES THICK ADD A TBSP OF GHEE AND MIX WELL.
  10. KEEP ROASTING THE HALWA TILL GHEE GETS ABSORBED.
  11. AGAIN ADD SOME GHEE AND MIX TILL IT GETS ABSORBED.
  12. ADD THE LAST BATCH OF GHEE NOW AND AGAIN MIX TILL THE MIXTURE BECOMES GLOSSY.
  13. WHEN GHEE STARTS RELEASING FROM SIDES AND HALWA SEEMS COOKED TAKE LITTLE HALWA AND FORM A BALL.
  14. IF BALL IS FORMED HALWA IS READY,ADD CASHEWS AND CARDAMOM POWDER.MIX WELL.
  15. PUT THE READY HALWA IN GREASED MOULD.
  16. SPREAD EVENLY.
  17. SPRINKLE SOME CHOPPED PISTA ON TOP AND PRESS WITH SPATULA.
  18. CUT INTO PIECES AND KEEP IN PLATE.
