Daliya khichdi

Ingredients to make Daliya khichdi

  • Daliya and moong dhuli daal.. 1/2 cup each
  • Salt red chilly powder, green chillies to taste
  • mustard seeds and cumin seeds. 1/4 tea spoon each
  • Chopped veggies.. As per individuals liking . 1 cup
  • Desi ghee as per shraddha
  • coriander leaves chopped finely.. 1 table spoon
  • Whole red chilly... 1 or 2
  • curry leaves... 10 or 12
  • asafoetida.. 1 pinch

How to make Daliya khichdi

  1. Take daliya and daal in a bowl, wash properly and soak the same for about 30 minutes
  2. In a pressure cooker or pan put ghee, add whole red chillies and asafoetida, mustard and cumin seeds, let it cook till these splutter, now put green chillies and curry leaves.
  3. Add veggies and soaked daliya and daal with salt and 3 to 4 cups of water, quantity of water depends upon consistency of the daliya required
  4. Cook to one whistle in cooker
  5. Let the pressure release and stir with a fork
  6. Serve with ghee and coriander leaves as garnish. Enjoy daliya khichdi at any time. Of the day

My Tip:

Daliya and daal, if desired can be roasted in ghee before also
