ABOUT Homemade garam masala RECIPE

This spice mix is excellent for all North indian recipes ,gravy based vegetables and also for paratha fillings.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Coriander seeds-100 gms
  2. Cumin seeds-100 gms
  3. Black pepper-75 gms
  4. Green Cardamom-40 gms
  5. Black cardamom-10 gms
  6. Dried ginger-40 gm
  7. Cloves-20 gm
  8. Cinnamon sticks-20 gm
  9. Bay leaves-4
  10. Nutmeg-1/2
  11. Mace leaves(javitri)-4 leaves
  12. Star anise-10 gms
  13. Lichen(Dagadphool)-5 gms
  14. Black cumin seeds-10 gms

Instructions

  1. Dry roast all the spices one by one in a pan at slow heat.
  2. Lightly roast so that the moisture evaporates.Do not let the colours of spices change.
  3. Remove all spices in a bowl to cool.
  4. Grind in a mixer jar on cooling.Grind to a fine powder.
  5. Now sieve it.
  6. Grind again if some thick residue is there.
  7. Fill the sieved aromatic garam masala in airtight bottles and enjoy the flavors in various dishes throughout the year.
