Beetroot chutney

Ingredients to make Beetroot chutney

  • oil
  • Channa dal - 2 tablespoon
  • Urad dal - 2 tablespoon
  • cashew -3
  • Redchilly -5 or 6
  • shallots - 15
  • garlic -5
  • Beetroot -1
  • coconut - 3 or 4 tablespoon
  • salt - as needed
  • tamarind
  • mustard seeds
  • curry leaves
  • water - 3 teaspoon

How to make Beetroot chutney

  1. Chop shallots, garlic, beetroot and set aside.
  2. Take a pan , add oil.
  3. Add Channa dal, urad dal, cashew, redchilly. Saute for 7 to 8 min or until dal turns brown color.
  4. Add onion, garlic. Saute till it turns translucent.
  5. Add beetroot and saute till the raw smell goes away.
  6. Add grated coconut, saute for a min and turn off the heat.
  7. Allow it to cool completely.
  8. Grind all together with salt and tamarind.
  9. Temper it with mustard seeds and curry leaves. Serve it with idly, dosa.
